To be in love.

I'm a psychology student and one of the perks of being in a psychology class is being surrounded by inquisitive friends who aren't afraid to talk about abstract human emotions like anger,  arousal and love. A few days into the quarantine,  a friend and I were texting (social distancing check ) . She asked - What is love?  This question lead to an intense two hour long dialogue in which our opinions on romantic love were exchanged. The following passage is inspired by our conversation that day. According to the all knowing reservoir  of Google,  love is  'an intense feeling of deep affection'. Just reading those words out loud  makes me want to cringe hard. Somehow, I can understand familial love and affection towards friends. We've all been exposed to it in some form during our early years. But, romantic love? Is that an actual thing ? Or a treacherous   scheme  by the society to trap innocent people for  procreation purposes....

A profile you should checkout, I swear it's not mine.

It was another day at college, this one in particular was quite bad. Not really sure what happened, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I felt like nothing I do would ever be significant and wanted to be left alone. I was mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, trying to avoid any possible human interaction when I came across a post that said : Ron is a writer and he loves coffee, it’s obvious because his Instagram handle is ‘payformycoffee’. Maybe stumbling upon his page was not life changing but a necessary reminder for me. This year is definitely a memorable year, and for obvious reasons, not really one with many happy memories (at least so far). I know it’s only March but it feels like a decade has passed. Everyday when so many people are facing life threatening situations, I can’t help but get overwhelmed. However, this post showed me that the little things in life, often those which we fail to acknowledge, matter. I've come so far in life, grown so much and I haven’t even reali...

only the young

Yup, I rigged the title from a Taylor swift song. Just want to remind you that TODAY you're young, this moment will NEVER come again. You will never be as young as you are at this moment. So fun, do what you want, pursue your dreams.  Right now I have zero motivation to create, write or publish an article. However, I owe it to my goal (post every week) and that's what I'm doing right now.  I shall treat this log as my journal today. Nothing significant has happened on this website until now, only a handful of people see the articles (very grateful for those few) and I'm not sure if anyone even reads them. But, in a way, it makes me more comfortable to write so freely about nothing in particular.  Today was a good day, it was Valentine's day. Nothing special has occurred and I have had yet another opportunity to pursue my dreams. I have indulged in self care, braided my hair and did my nails.  I shall now end my useless log now. Until Friday,  hx.

Making friends as an introvert

Being an introvert, it's easy to just be alone, we feel comfortable with our own selves and don't necessarily require other people around us. However, as much as we would like to live on our beds all day, it is important to make friends and meet new people. The world is a social place where daily interaction amongst human beings is unavoidable. Then, how is it that we, as introverts can get out of our bubble of warmth and face the world? Growing up, making friends was never easy for me. I would overthink every conversation I had with people and tell myself I was better off being quite. I looked like an anxious puppy everytime I approached a person. So, I had very few friends, but the ones I made were precious to me. It took a while to get out of this phase. Now, in college I have improved and have been able to meet new friends without much difficulty. Here are three simple tips that I would suggest you try: Small talk is unavoidable As much as we all hate small...

Run, before they get to you.

Don't be angry!, they said. Do not show your tears. Do not be vulnerable, even if you are, don't let them see. Why blame the society, when 'loved ones' force a mask on us. Somewhere down the line,  My mask and I became one.                                                -plastic and fragile

K drama - a beginners guide

Welcome to drama-land, I've been here for 5 years now and don't plan on leaving anytime soon. If you've finally decided to check out what the hype about kdramas is, I believe I can help. Here are five things you need to know : 1. Keep an open mind. Remember that Asian dramas are quite different from American or British TV shows, simply because of a huge difference in culture. 2. A typical Korean drama does not exceed 20 episodes, most dramas are only 16 episodes long with one hour each episode. So, watching a kdrama doesn't really take long, which is why there are MANY korean dramas with different genres to try. New Korean dramas are available almost every other day.  3. Romance is usually limited to cute scenes between the couples and kissing. But, even these scenes are quite heartwarming and can teach you different ways to express love.  ( via thatrandomgirlxx )  4. Korea is known for high fashion, and a good Korean drama will definit...

Reset time

Hi, so it's Friday and my creative juices aren't flowing. I'm kinda ill [a regular cold]. But sometimes, even the most regular and ordinary problem can get put out your mood. For a while I've been slacking off, not really paying much attention to work and college. I've been dwelling on my sadness and it doesn't help that I'm sick as well. So, this week I shall give you guys an account of 2020 till now. As mentioned above, I have been lacking in motivation but trying to stay on track as much as possible, like squeezing the last few drops of toothpaste out of its tube. In general my head hurts and insomnia is growing. As I'm already whining about my life, I shall list out some steps that might help me get out of this rut (based on past experience). Drink loads of water. Read a good book. Listen to good music. Make a short to do list and ensure that you check off all boxes before the end of the day. Talk to yourself, affirmations etc. Wash your...

Gen z ? IGen ?

Social generations are cohorts of people born in the same date range and share similar cultural experiences. Gen Z is the newest generation to be named and were born between 1995 and 2015.  Members of Gen Z are true digital natives: from earliest youth, they have been exposed to the internet, social networks and mobiles. This generation is most likely to have never known a mobile that isn’t a smartphone. All these factors have given rise to a hypercognitive generation that is very comfortable with collecting and cross-referencing many sources of information within minutes. They are able to integrate virtual and offline experiences. Which of the following Gen Z characteristics do you identify with? Identity Nomads Gen Zers experiment with different ways of being themselves and to shape their individual identities over time. Gender fluidity may be the most telling reflection of “undefined ID”. Gen Z seeks uniqueness in all walks of life primarily through the br...

A pretense.

We all pretend at some point. Some days we pretend much more than usual. It's easy to pretend when people are only concerned about themselves They'll fall for your deceit, and even if they see through it, they couldn't care less.  Often people pretend to be happy, to fake a mile or talk cheerfully. That way, the system is intact and society can proceed in its illusion of being perfect. Our society cannot accept sad people. Ironically, this emotion is very common. Sometimes, I feel like life is made of predominantly hurtful instances and sprinkles of  precious happiness. As children, we were 'allowed' to be mad and sad whenever we liked. but, as we grow older, showing these 'negative' emotions is perceived as a sign of weakness, ill health. And maybe, it is not healthy to be sad too often, but ignoring or even downplaying this emotion can only increase sadness. Today, we have an entire generation of sad people who do not know how to get over it. We ...

A decision to stay.

We are the choices we make. We decide at every instance of our lives who we choose be, what we want to be and how we want to react to a situation. Today, as I type these words, I have made a choice. A choice to remain at home during the winter break while my younger sister travels to visit our cousins. But, one never can really foresee the true consequences of their decisions until later in time. I assumed that staying back would be easy because, generally , I'm quite happy to be left to my own thoughts, reading books and watching some series on Netflix. Today, for the first time I feel like I'm missing out, I feel like I could be there, with them having fun and enjoying.  But, here I am writing. Don't get me wrong, it was completely my choice to stay. I stayed because I needed to think, I needed some time alone to make decisions, important decisions that I've been putting out for a long time. I needed direction , I needed to know where I was going and wh...

Be that person.

Recently, I read 1984 by George Orwell. The book is well written and insightful on political dominance and oligarchy. I could see why this book is highly recommended. While reading the book, I came across a phrase - ' Inequality is the price of civilization'. Although this phrase was meant to justify the harsh treatment of citizens the extreme rules under the part rule, it is simply even today. And this may not necessarily be bad. Most people today have equal rights, may be treated with equal respect and dignity. But without inequality, society as we know it wouldn't exist. A civilization invariably requires laborers, doctors, traders, teachers and all other professions. This is simply the structure of a social system. In the most basic sense, if man and woman were to be biologically equal, human beings would cease to survive. Therefore, inequality is in the essence of life that is, our differences our necessary. The world needs people who can stand out and be ...

People passing by.

Walking on the road, we barely notice the people around us. Even if we do we're usually worried about what they might think of us .Everyday, we meet many people, some we're acquainted with, while some others who are dear to us. As life goes on we realize that people come and go, like people passing on a street. Some people fall apart while others suffer a painful void due to the detachment. People that we love are truly the only people who can hurt us,whether intentionally or not. Despite going through this cycle over and over again, we, as humans never stop meeting new people, making new connections. We must remember that along with meeting new people, we change as well. We have new beliefs, new intentions, ideas ; simply because, you've grown from your past.  Life has a way to keep getting back to you with the same problems until you learn your lesson. So, let's be grateful for what we have and excited for what is yet to come.  Passing people almost alwa...

Metanoia

Just another day of summer vacation, plain,no plans with friends and simply boring.I was lying on my bed, mindlessly scrolling through my phone, switching between instagram and youtube, when I came across an app that I had stopped using, pinterest.Although Pinterest is great, but, for me, it represented a failed attempt to start a blog.Boredom got the better of me, and I decided to take a look at Pinterest. On my feed, I came across the word - metanoia. Metanoia in Greek is literally ‘change of mind’ often translated as “repentance". But this kind of repentance is not about regret or guilt or shame; it implies making a decision to turn around, to face a new direction. Something, I really badly needed at that time. Life was no fun, I had no idea what I was doing. And maybe, because of this,I had trouble sleeping, I was constantly anxious about my future.I wanted a goal to pursue but didn’t attempt to find goals.Something had to change, life shouldn’t feel like this. A lot has ...

Would you go back in time to be a child again?

Every 14th November, India celebrates Children's Day. This year, I stumbled a post on social media : I’m sure that a lot of you must have read it somewhere, it’s a popular post. And many people agree to this statement.  I thought about this and I realised that so many adults desire to relive their childhood days. Yes, adulting is hard and yes, when you’re a child you’ve got no bills to pay. As much as I cherish my time as a child, I would not trade my years of experience and growth and go back to being five. And for sure, I wouldn’t go through high school all over again. It is true that a  child symbolises innocence, growth, curiosity and love. But aren't these qualities attainable even as an adult? Is it not possible to remain thirsty for knowledge and continue learning. In fact our experience can help us gain wisdom.James Arther Baldwin perfectly said,’ Experience, which destroys innocence also leads one back to it.’ So, let me know what you think of this. Wo...

Good day to you , Welcome to  scribble plan  - my first ever blog. I've wanted to blog ever since I was in tenth grade but due to pressure to do well in academics I haven't been able to do it. Today for the first time ever I have decided to take my dream a step forward and finally start writing šŸ˜€ ABOUT SCRIBBLE PLAN When I first decided to blog I didn't really know what to write about.
