Recently, I read 1984 by George Orwell. The book is well written and insightful on political dominance and oligarchy. I could see why this book is highly recommended. While reading the book, I came across a phrase - ' Inequality is the price of civilization'.
Although this phrase was meant to justify the harsh treatment of citizens the extreme rules under the part rule, it is simply even today. And this may not necessarily be bad.
Most people today have equal rights, may be treated with equal respect and dignity. But without inequality, society as we know it wouldn't exist. A civilization invariably requires laborers, doctors, traders, teachers and all other professions. This is simply the structure of a social system.
In the most basic sense, if man and woman were to be biologically equal, human beings would cease to survive. Therefore, inequality is in the essence of life that is, our differences our necessary. The world needs people who can stand out and be uniquely, unapologetically themselves.
So, go ahead and be whoever you want to be, do whatever you want. Your dreams are worth it.
Like Coco Chanel once said, 'In order to be irreplaceable, one must be different.'
Until Friday,
hx.
